Detroit Munny Show

So it looks like I'll be participating in the "2nd Annual" (I just made that part up) Detroit Munny Show at Lift Footwear next month. Yeah, next month is coming up fast. I was asked to participate last week, and hesitantly agreed. I usually require a few months (if not longer) of lead time before I'll commit to any show, but at the same time I really enjoy participating when I can, and I figure I can get something together in 3 weeks (I hope.) This might be time for the first ever Spade-Skull Munny- unless I can think of something cooler that I can pull off on short notice.

Big Rump Vinyl

I got a big rump vinyl DIY Qee Bear on Sunday. First off, you're probably asking why I said "big rump". Well, on the Kidrobot messageboard, they've got some sort of word substitutor that exchanges any "bad" words you type and posts alternate words. Most people swear to evoke some sort of emphasis with what they say, so I find it pretty funny that those words usually get substituted with some sort of toned down version. For instance, ass = rump. So if I were to say Big Ass Vinyl, the message board would translate that to Big Rump Vinyl. Funny. Anyway, I totally digressed there. What you're seeing in the picture is my new buddy- a 16" DIY Qee Bear that (best part) I got for free. Yes free. Well, not quite- I did have to take a painting break on Sunday and drive down to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and take part in the "Find the Boo" contest that a fellow Kidrobot message board member put on. Surprisingly, I came in second, but still won the (literally) biggest prize that was offered. Once again, big thanks to Mark (you know who you are) for going out of his way and setting up this fun little Sunday afternoon jaunt.

New Stuff

So I've finally finished up some new customs, so I thought I'd share. Now don't you feel special? First pic- a sneak peak of my piece for the upcoming Vinyl Elements show. I guess I could show the whole thing since no one really reads my blog, but hey, you never know. I don't want to upset Jack... I just packed this up to send over. Hopefully when they receive it they'll take some real pictures of it. My little digital point/shoot just isn't quite up to take studio/product shot-type pictures. The second pic is my Spade-Skull IceBot that I painted for the Art Toy Alchemists show at Artifact Unmundane. Where is this you ask? It's down in Anahiem- yes, I was surprised when I found out there was a vinyl shop in Anahiem too. This world is full of surprises. I'm pretty sure I'll be driving down for the opening night- as long as it's on the weekend. The third pic, are some fun little mini customs I've been working on. I call them my Spade-Skull Metal Series. It sounded cooler than saying Gold, Silver, Copper. Anyway, all three of these little guys sold at my "online preview." It's pretty scary when someone like me is setting up "online previews" by request. Like I said, this world is full of surprises...
